Gulf of Naples and Campania

The Gulf of Naples is with its approximately 4 million inhabitants the center of southern Italy. Many cities merge without transition into one big conurbation.

The gulf is dominated by its double volcano Vesuv with Monte Somma in the center. Both from the south   from Mount Faito ,   (2)   and from the north   from Posillipo hill in Naples you get an impressive panoramic view of the corresponding part of the gulf.
At last from the edge of the crater of 1182 m high Mount Vesuvius you get a panoramic overall view of the entire Gulf of Naples. The crater is about 200 m deep and has a diameter of approximately 600 m with a circumference of approximately 2000 m.
